Pret-A-Porter Recap

Recap

One of the year’s most anticipated Denver design events is without question, the annual International Interior Design Association’s Pret-A-Porter. The competition took place this year on September 11 and was very well attended. Modern In Denver’s publisher, William Logan, served as one of the judges.

Thirty-seven area firms exhibited their design ideas. Each entering team had to construct garments utilizing architectural materials and was evaluated based on creativity, craftsmanship, wearability, sustainable innovation and model presence. The teams were randomly paired with a sponsoring manufacturer and had to construct their garments using 80% of the assigned material.

While all of the entries presented a dazzling display, there could only be a few winners. Women In Design + Kerastan claimed Best in Show. Following in First Place Professional was Roth Sheppard + Wilsonart; Second Place Professional was Symmetry Inc + Masland Contract and Third Place Professional was Kimberly Timmons Interiors + Steelcase.

Women In Design is gaining rapid exposure, not only for their top-notch entry in Pret-A-Porter, but also for their innovative event sponsorships, growing in popularity. Their next event, an 8x8 panel discussion, ReUse, ReCycle and ReClaim: Objects and Environments, takes place this Thursday, October 22. This event will feature mostly women from the Denver and Boulder design community speaking from various perspectives on rethinking design. Students $3, Members $8 and Non-Members $10. Please RSVP at widinfo@widdenver.com.
