If you’ve driven along sixth avenue anytime in the past few years, you’ve definitely seen it. The International Design Collection (known as the IDC Building for short) stands proudly south of the busy intersection of I-25 and 6th Ave East on Quivas Street, a window-clad modern building shining like a beacon in a largely industrial area.
Opened in May 2019, The IDC Building is the largest home design collective to take root in Denver since the Denver Design District. The 60,000 square foot interior currently houses some of the area’s top design showrooms, providing a centralized space for designers and homeowners to shop multiple showrooms all under one roof. Organized in an open layout to maximize collaboration and creativity, the building also features soaring ceilings, a grand staircase, and impressive views of downtown Denver and the mountains.
Weathering the storm of pandemic and lockdown orders less than a year after opening hasn’t been ideal, but the 14 businesses of the IDC Building, who make communal decisions and are voiced through a representative committee, are optimistic about the future. “Throughout this difficult year and into the next, the IDC Building will continue to serve designers, architects, trade professionals and homeowners through our exclusive showrooms featuring the finest in kitchen and bath plumbing, fixtures and hardware; luxury lighting; designer rugs and carpeting; hardwood flooring; wall treatments, fireplaces and mantels; smart home automation and design; and more,” says the committee.
The IDC Building is currently open (with face masks required) Monday-Friday from 9am-5pm and on Saturdays by appointment only.
