There’s nothing quite like summer to inspire the artist—or art lover—in all of us. The air is sweet, the mountains are colorful; everything feels alive with creativity. To celebrate this feeling, and perhaps indulge your inner collector, head to Golden now through July 14 for ARTSWEEK, a weeklong celebration of art that culminates in the two-day Foothills Fine Arts Festival.

The air is sweet, the mountains are colorful; everything feels alive with creativity.

More than just your typical, run-of-the-mill curated show, ARTSWEEK has a huge array of activities and events to sample, from free museum visits to movie screenings to aerialist performances. Watch chalk artists beautify the sidewalks with stunning designs, cheer on the Ladies Fancywork Society as they decorate the downtown area with colorful yarn sculptures, and join a Hawaiian luau to see handcrafted quilts from the Aloha State.

All of this culminates in the big event: the Foothills Fine Arts Festival on July 13 and 14. More than 100 juried artists from around the country will showcase their work in ceramics, fiber, jewelry, sculpture, mixed media, photography, drawing, painting, and more. Go home with a new treasure for your collection. Heck, go home with two! Not only will you walk away with something to last a lifetime, you’ll be supporting the Foothills Art Center, the organization responsible for bringing ARTSWEEK to Golden every year.
